Between
12 to 16 March 2012, NEXTspace lab worked with our industrial partner, Min
Shang Pte Ltd to provide a valuable training experience for our SEG students.
This is a CE activity plus vacation freelance job opportunity. It is called AIRobotics
Science Workshop.
Min
Shang has selected and trained 20 SEG students (from various diplomas) in
pneumatic toys modelling. These SEG students were then given vacation freelance
assignments to conduct courses to young children organized by People
Association. A total of 200+ primary school students, 27 schools and 17
Community Centres supported the workshop. The idea of the workshop has also
helped to promote compress air as renewable energy source and the usage of
recyclable materials.
We
have received great comments from our partner and their clients on the quality
of our students, especially when it comes to communication with the young
children and problem solving. Our SEG students have made the one week workshop
a great success and it has gotten the People’s Association’s support in a
launch on the 13 April 2012 at Woodlands CC (2pm to 4pm) with a total 150
primary school students coming from all over Singapore to learn from our SEG
students.
Below are some pictures taken during the workshop:
Some
samples of the pneumatic toys can be found in NEXTspace.
We hope that the students and the young children enjoyed themselves and gain a new experience.
