Freshmen Orientation Programme (FOP) Day 3

The third day of Orientation Programme was about Tug-Of-War, the school’s performance by the freshmen, and lastly Jam & Hop.

School of Engineering, being one of the biggest schools in Republic Polytechnic, took the advantage of its huge mass of freshmen; chanted together all the way to Astroturf. Freshmen, together with the student leaders and Cyrivians, left the home base at Agora 3 & 4, with the chant, ‘LAST YEAR’S CHAMPS ARE HERE!’

Upon reaching the Astroturf, there was a panoramic view of students from all schools and centres, seated at their respective areas. SEG were already cheering for their very own Tug-Of-War warriors. Hearing how strong the cheers and chants were; it was blatant to see that the sense of pride and honour for the school had been instilled in every freshmen.

SEG started off the competition strong, and won the first few rounds. The warriors managed to pull through the stages and get to the finals. The SEG staff team had gone to the finals. The SEG student team had a close fight with the SOH side, but with determination, they managed to triumph against the opponent. There was it, this year’s champs, SEG!

Even though we’ve won against schools and centres, they had one more challenge against the SEG staff team however they lost to the SEG staff team.

Though the Principal’s Cup was not over yet, freshmen were extremely hyped that there was a chance of winning this year. When students returned to the home bases, the chant then changed to, ‘THIS YEAR’S CHAMPS ARE HERE!’

After an exhilarating day in the Astroturf, freshmen were led back to home base for lunch. Everyone hydrated themselves and rested for a while before starting on the mass team Republic echo. The Republic War Cry, also known as team Republic echo, brought unity amongst them and it definitely illustrated the school’s motto, ‘ONE REPUBLIC’. They must have done it too many times that the war cry was mastered; both lyrically and its actions. In addition, during this time, there was a mass bonding session together from the Red Indian game, virus and 2 plus 1.

After dinner, they had a sneak peak from SEG’s freshmen dancers!

Freshmen were led to lawn for the school and centre performances before concluding the winner for this year’s Principal’s Cup. We were presented performances by the schools and centres. When it was SEG’s performance, everyone was surprised about the flash mob.

Not only SEG cheered for their own school, they rooted for other schools too. This was an example of tremendous sportsmanship which had illustrated great friendships and respect with one another.
After an inspiring speech by the principal, the deliberation was finally delivered.

SEG has once again clinched champion for this year’s Principal’s Cup! There was definitely a wave of extreme happiness. Now that SEG has won the Principal’s Cup for 2 years in a row, this batch of freshmen are inspired to win for the third time, once more.
