LSCMS IG joint activity with NTU-MBS

On 16 October, 11 students from the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Student Chapter Interest Group (LSCMS IG) had their first collaboration with the NTU Maritime Business Society (NTU-MBS), when they were invited to attend an evening seminar at NTU, which was on the shipping sector’s strategy on handling the current downturn in the economy, aptly named ‘Setting Sailling III – Survival of the Fittest’.

One bus was chartered by NTU-MBS to fetch our students to attend the talk, which started at 6pm and ended past 8pm. There were speakers from Maersk, Jaya Holdings, Oslobulk and a recruitment agency, Faststream, who touched on various aspects such as company downfalls, strategies, training, opportunities, and other financial matters of the maritime industry. Our students also had a chance to mingle with these industry speakers, as well as participants from NTU and other polys over the refreshments that was provided at the end of the session.

This event was made possible with the help of our ex-student, Sylvia Utami (girl in white blouse, extreme left in the group photo)

She was the SEG Valedictorian 2012 from DSCM, and was also the ex-President of LSCMS IG.

Currently, she is pursuing BSc (Hons) in Maritime Studies in NTU, and is also a main committee member of NTU-MBS.
