They had successfully organized a Student Overseas Study trip for a group of 24 SEG students (majority from DDEE) to Seoul, South Korea from 30th September – 6th October 2012.
The itinerary comprised of visits to leading universities such as Korea University and Seoul National University of Technology, successful Korean enterprises such as Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) and experiencing Korean cultures through visits to places of interests such as the Gyeongbokgung Palace and Kimchinara. We also held an October birthday celebration for the students.
During the SOT, they were hosted by Korea University and Seoul National University of Science and Technology. Both universities are founded in the 1900s and are widely acknowledged as the country’s top-ranked universities. During the visits, they had the opportunity to witness their education and research facilities. Staff and students also had face to face interactions with the professors and researchers to find out more about the educational systems, enrolment criteria for overseas students as well as research partnerships and achievements.
During the SOT, staff and students experienced futuristic technologies in broadcasting, telecommunication, robotics and consumer electronics. For example, a few students were selected to have hands-on in interactive TV broadcasting at Korean Broadcasting System (KBS). Staff and students also participated in fun-filled activities such as driving a future car, catwalk in an interactive virtual fashion walkway and many more at hi-tech museums such as the Digital Media City, Samsung D’light, etc.
Staff and students were also immersed in Korean culture through visits to places of rich historic interests such as the Gyeongbokgung Palace. First time experiences in Kimchi making and wearing of the Hanbok, the traditional Korean dress have also brought lots of fun and smiles to all!
