SEG DDEE Study Trip to Melbourne, Australia

A group of 24 students mainly from DDEE, visited Melbourne Australia for Student Overseas Trip (5 days) from 23th till 28th September.

It was indeed a fruitful and insightful trip whereby students got to visit various academic institutions like Monash and Melbourne Universities and Academy of Interactive Entertainment , as well as visiting some cultural and sightseeing places. It was indeed fortunate that the weather was sunny though quite chilly throughout the trip.


University / Company Visits:
We visited Monash University to learn about the various engineering courses offered as well as tour of their engineering facilities. We were amazed with how engineering students from Mechanical and aircraft engineering was able to build from scratch racing car and able to secure top positions in recent race event.  A tour of the robotic lab  to understand some of the projects undertaken by graduate students as well as air turbine facilities were  conducted.

We had a guided tour of Melbourne University campus. It is second oldest university in Australia and the campus is full of greenery and old architecture.

Another institute we visited was Academy of Interactive Entertainment, which is Australia’s most awarded educator for 3D Animation, Game Development and Visual FX industries. In this visit, students got to explore some of the top award winning video games developed in Australia as well as experience interactive games. From the interesting presentation some students shown interest to pursue their further study in the courses offered in the booming gaming industries.

The last academic visit is to Australia Centre for Moving Images, whereby it exhibited Games Masters which showcased work of 35 of world’s leading international video game designer in another booth shows the evolution of both video and movie industries.


Cultural Visits:
Besides having some of renowned universities, Melbourne is also well known as one of liveable cities in the world, with its scenic and cultural building, vibrant downtown and vast nature. The below pictures taken will explain more than words.
