After a few months of preparation,
2 SEG ISLP teams, each consists of 25 students and 2 staff leaders (ISLP Solar
Power led by Eugene & Chee Fui and ISLP Sun & Joy led by Shyuan Jing
and Wai Yin) departed for Siem Reap, Cambodia on 13th March 2012.
After 15 days in Siem Reap, Cambodia, both teams have achieved their mission
and returned to Singapore safely on 27th March 2012.
While in Siem Reap, the team from
ISLP Solar Power has completed the installation of solar panels and lighting
system for one classroom in Trapeang Po Primary School in Ballangk commune,
Siem Reap. The purpose is to enable the school to conduct evening and night
English enrichment classes for adults or children in Ballangk commune. In
addition, the team had also conducted some workshops such as Engineering,
Science, English, Math, Sports, Hygiene, etc for the primary school kids in
Trapeang Po Primary School in Ballangk commune, Siem Reap.
From this year, OSG have tried to
align the ISLP projects to tap on YEP funding. As part of YEP’s requirements,
all overseas project need to have a pre and post trip local component aligned
to the objectives of the main project. The team has completed the pre-trip and
the overseas project. The team would be serving their post trip local component
on 13th April 2012.

Their homestay for the rest of the 15 days.
This is the primary school - Trapeang Po Primary School in
Ballangk commune that they were serving.
In order to get along well with the kids for the rest of
the days, our students started to play some ice breaking games with the kids
from the primary school on the first day they visited the primary school.

the kids.
Conducting hygiene workshop to teach the kids the proper
way to brush their teeth, wash their hands and cut their finger nails.

and soccer with the primary school kids.
Conducting engineering workshop and science Workshop to
grade 5 and 6 students in Trapeang Po Primary School in Ballangk commune.
A
friendly soccer match between RP and Cambodian players from the primary school
which consists of their teachers and students. Unfortunately, RP were defeated
with a score of 4-1.
After all the hard work, they also
have the chance to enjoy some delicious local food, visit to cultural village,
war museum, killing field, Artisans Angkor (Cambodia Fine Arts & Crafts
Factory), silk farm, floating village and of course one of the 7 wonders - Angkor
Wat during weekends.

and the civil war that the Cambodian went through in the last few decades.

We
hope that the students enjoyed their trip and gain some new experience.
